The Scenario

You are the captain of a Federation starship. You receive a distress call from the civilian freighter Kobayashi Maru, which has suffered a massive engine failure and is stranded in the Klingon Neutral Zone.

The ship carries 300 passengers and crew, including families with children. They have limited life support and will die without immediate rescue.

However, entering the Neutral Zone violates Federation treaty and could trigger an interstellar war, potentially costing millions of lives.
